On September 24th we had the pleasure of cheering on Tour de Rock as they visited our school. For over a year KSS has been putting on fundraisers to raise money for the group of bikers coming our way.
Last May, Mr. Barton ran a total of 24 hours straight with students and staff by his side through the journey. Over $4,000 was raised. Near the end of September Mr.Leggett bravely gave up his luscious locks in support of the cause. Ms. Stephens and Mr. Rogers also contributed by helping us push to raise as much as KSS could. In total, our efforts raised $7000 for the Tour de Rock. We crushed our goal, this is an amazing achievement for KSS.
When Tour De Rock visited this September, the energy was absolutely wonderful. The organization gave many thanks and were exceedingly happy to receive our donation. We celebrated our accomplishment with the Tour De Rock team by having a little dance party and lots of cheering.
Tour De Rock is an annual fundraising event that raises funds for children and families affected by cancer. The fundraiser consists of a team of first responders who bike ride 1200 kilometers for a total of two weeks. This team visits schools and communities all over Vancouver Island to give thanks for everyone's support. This is all a part of the Cops for Cancer organization. The KSS community should be very proud of their hard work and contribution to this important cause.
